MyHeritage: Family Tree & DNA

Family History in One App

MyHeritage: Family Tree & DNA is a genealogy and reference app for people who want to build a family tree, search historical records, explore family connections, and preserve old photographs. It suits beginners starting with names and dates as well as experienced researchers comparing documents across generations. The app is developed by MyHeritage.com and is listed in the Books & Reference category.

Build and Explore a Family Tree

You can add relatives, relationships, events, and photographs to a visual family tree, then review possible matches found in historical sources. Smart Matches and Record Matches can point to related family trees or documents, giving users useful leads for further research rather than requiring every connection to be entered manually.

The records section includes sources such as census information, vital records, and immigration documents from many countries. Availability and relevance will depend on the person and family being researched, so the app works best when you already have some reliable names, locations, or dates to guide your searches.

Photos and DNA Information

MyHeritage also includes tools for restoring, sharpening, colorizing, and animating family photographs. These features are intended for preserving and revisiting historical images, adding a visual element to research that normally relies on written records. Users can also view DNA ethnicity information through the service, helping compare genetic results with the family history recorded in the tree.

Ratings and Audience

The app has a 4.45 rating from 250,535 reviews and more than 10,000,000 installs. Those figures indicate broad use, but genealogy results still depend on the quality of available records and the accuracy of the information entered. It is a practical choice for organizing family discoveries, investigating ancestry, and keeping related photos and research together.
